My aunt Liz sent me this in an email. I sent it to those of you whose emails I have. It is entitled “Beautiful Idea”.

This comes from Sue Lopez, a pro-life warrior:

I shared the following inspiration with someone today and she told me
that it was a great idea and that we should try to spread it quickly. So
here it is – we should petition all the aborted babies in Heaven to
intercede for us in this election. There are millions of them, and so
precious to God, can you imagine the power?

In addition to prayer and fasting, the intercession of these little ones
can be a powerful secret weapon that the other side could certainly
never use.

‘Victory in war does not depend upon the size of the army, but on
strength that comes from Heaven.’ (1Maccabees 3:19)

Please pray for the families of two of my Brother Knights who have went home to the Lord this weekend. Yesterday, Ed Endow passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was the owner of Red Wing Shoes on Pacific Ave. He was also a part of RCIA. He is survived by his wife Debbie and his son Robert.

Also, Joaquin Madrid passed away this morning after a long battle with illness. (I found out after 10:30 mass.) He was with the Presentation council, but was staying at Casa Manana, across from St. Lukes, before having to move to convalescent homes, the last being Fulton VIlla on Sutter St.

His niece is Alberta Musgrove, who is an active part of St. Luke’s CRE, music and eucharistic ministry.

May Perpetual Light shine upon them, . Amen.

A week ago when I was in San Diego a little girl named Marie Breda had a terrible choking accident after Mass. I was at that Mass with my family. A website has been made for this little girl. Please pray for her! She is in a medically induced coma, but is at death’s door. The family has asked that we pray for Blessed Mother Teresa’s intercession. Here is the website if you’d like to post a note to the family. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/mariebreda

For those of you who attended the meeting last night, I handed out a copy of a prayer which was said by Pope Benedict XVI at Ground Zero (New York) on 04/20/2008. The Knights of Columbus has declared September 11 as a World Day of Prayer for Peace, a day to remember those who gave their lives on that tragic day.

Here is the exact prayer said by Pope Benedict:

God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world;
peace in the hearts of all men and women
and peace among the nations of the earth.
Turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds
and consumed with hatred.

God of understanding,
overwhelmed by the magnitude of this tragedy,
we seek your light and guidance
as we confront such terrible events.
Grant that those whose lives were spared
may live so that the lives lost…
may not have been lost in vain.
Comfort and console us,
strengthen us in hope,
and give us the wisdom and courage
to work tirelessly for a world
where true peace and love reign
among nations and in the hearts of all.

Please pray for the soul of St. Luke’s Parishioner August Sanguinetti, who went home to the Lord last night at the age of 96 or 97. For those of you who do not know him, August was one of the first parishioners of St. Luke’s when it began over 50 years ago. I have known him since I was an altar server.

August was very passionate about attending mass on Sundays, Holy Days and week days. Before his time, he would always come to church on his walker. (He lived about four blocks away but always had someone give him a ride if the weather was bad.)

He was the foundation of St. Luke’s Parish and he will be missed.
