Feast of the Assumption
In 1950, Pope Pius XII defined the dogma of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Munificentissimus Deus.
According to Munificentissimus Deus, the Virgin Mary, “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.” This means that our Lady was transported into Heaven with her body and soul united. The feast day recognizing our Lady’s passage into Heaven has been celebrated since the before 500 A.D.
We will be celebrating this holy day of obligation at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Stockton, CA. Mass will be offered at the following times:
Thursday, August 14 at 7:00 pm (Vigil)
Friday, August 15 at 8:30 am and 7:00 pm
