Proposed events
Snowshoe tour at Big Trees–tentative date set at Mar 7. Tour starts at 1 pm. Jackie will confirm tour is being done the week before. Drivers will be needed as some members expressed hesitation to drive in the snow. Jackie’s sister and Nancy’s friend may be willing to drive. Suggestion made to look at ski resorts/snow parks in the area to go to afterwards; Nancy will look into that.
Lenten service activites–suggestions included 1. Working at the food bank (Jackie will contact them) 2. Working with Catholic Charities on a project (Nancy will contact them) 3. Visiting the elderly (Tom will research) 4. Ministering to homeless on the streets with Dr Jack Holler’s group (Krisz will call him)
Professional sports event–1. Gus will look into going to a Stockton Thunder hockey game and find out when their “faith night” is. 2. Tom may be able to get free tickets to a UOP basketball game
Sporting day–1. Nancy will research playing frisbee golf at Oak Grove park 2. Sports in Church field-tentative date April 19. Play kick ball, dodge ball, ultimate frisbee, or monster ball (will decide later) in the field after 12:30 Mass. Jackie will call the rectory to reserve the field.
Visit to Oakland Cathedral-no date set yet
Women’s/Men’s retreats–suggestion to have them, but may be better to find group already holding them instead of doing ourselves, e.g. Legionaires or at retreat house in Cupertino. Irma will look into upcoming retreats for men and women.
YAM Mass–suggestion to have YAM members attend Mass together once a month then go out to eat after Mass. Suggested alternating between Lodi and Stockton, as members from Lodi are increasing. Will start 1st Sunday of Feb at 6pm Mass at St Anne’s, then 1st Sunday of March at 12:30 Mass at St Luke’s, and so on. Meet in front of church 5-10 minutes before Mass starts.
Book exchange–Tom suggested everyone bring in Catholic books to meetings on a specified day TBA and have members exchange books.
Cruise for Single Catholics–Melanio may be organizing a 3-4 day cruise this summer for single Catholic people in the area. More info to come.
Delta Cruise–suggestion of doing afternoon or evening delta cruise once weather warms up
Updates
YAM announcements–bulletin announcements were sent to Presentation, St Anne’s, and Annunciation. No word from UOP Newman Center.
Spiritual Advisor/guest speakers–1. Invite Fr Matthew and Paul to planning meetings 2. Talk with Anne Marie Avensino, Diocese director of youth and young adult ministry 3. Remind members they can invite guest seakers when they sign up to lead weekly meetings
Board positions
President vacancy–Jackie will assume President’s duties until next election. Krisz will take over finding leaders for weekly meetings until next election.
Board positions–will end meeting at 9pm on 2/3 and have short meeting to discuss more fully leadership positions and what duties leaders have. Suggested changes: 1. VP/Events will lead a planning meeting for those in group who want to participate every 2 months. Have short Tuesday meeting, then planning meeting afterwards until 9:30. 2. Key keeper will also call meetings to order, introduce speaker/leader, and make sure meeting stays topically on track and within time limits
Election–next “election” will be Feb 17th. Will use same format: ask for volunteers in writing, then vote/negotiate among those who want certain positions.
