As 2010 comes to a close, I’d like to reflect on what God has allowed our YAM to do in the past year. It is pretty amazing!

We organized and participated in many service and social events:

• The Walk for Life West Coast
• Youth 2000 retreat at St Luke’s
• The parish Lenten Stations of the Cross
• Lodi Pregnancy Resource Center’s fundraiser walk
• Wine tasting in Lodi
• A donation drive for the women’s/homeless shelter
• Young Adult Outreach weekend
• Summer BBQ/Picnic
• Serving at St Mary’s Dining room
• St Luke’s parish festival
• Organizing donations at the Pregnancy Resource Center

Our weekly meetings have also covered a variety of topics, allowing us to learn more about our faith and grow closer to God and find fellowship with other young Catholics. Our weekly meeting topics included:

• A prayer service for Haiti earthquake victims
• Testimonies from guest speakers
• Bible study
• Lives of the Saints
• Praise and Worship
• Catholic social teaching
• Lenten practices (prayer, fasting, almsgiving)
• Bowling
• Chastity
• Dinners
• Environmental stewardship
• Catholic dating in a modern world
• Upcoming changes to the English translation of the Liturgy
• Spiritual adoption/fetal development
• ARISE faith sharing 
• Catholic trivia 

God willing, next year we will continue to offer more opportunities for service, spiritual growth, and fellowship to the young adults of St Luke’s and all around the Stockton area.

Update 11/1/10: The meetings will be in the *meeting room* not the choir room, starting tomorrow, 11/2.

ARISE is a parish-wide project in which parishioners meet in small groups to pray, read scripture, faith share and talk about how we can live out our faith in everyday life. These groups meet once-a-week for six weeks in the Fall and Spring. Our young adult ministry will be participating by having our very own ARISE program at our regular Tuesday night meetings, starting tomorrow, October 12.

As usual, all young adults are invited; same time and same place (8pm-9:30pm at St. Luke’s choir room meeting room after Adoration in the church). Come and join us explore the richness of our faith through the ARISE process!

Join us for our First Tuesday social at the Stockton Ports game vs the Modesto Nuts! Meet in front of the ticket window at Banner Island Ballpark at 6:50.

For those of you who don’t want to miss Adoration, there will also be a group carpooling to the park and joining our members for the second half of the the game. Tickets are $9. E-mail yam@lukefive.org with questions.

Special guests from St. Anne’s will be leading praise and worship for tomorrow night’s meeting. Please come join us at our usual meeting time (8:15pm) at St. Luke’s choir room!

· June 8th – “Catholic Social Teaching: Environmental Stewardship” (Josefa) w/ guest speaker, Betsy Reif, the environmental justice coordinator for the Stockton Diocese.

· June 15th – “The Life of Saint Rita” (Melissa)

· June 22nd – “2nd Trimester Spiritual Adoption” (Melissa)

o BBQ at Bishop’s House to eat and discuss young adult ministry in the diocese—6:30pm; we will leave in time to be at 8 pm meeting at St Luke’s

· June 29th – Praise & Worship night

Special Events

· June 12-13th – Young Adult Survey weekend masses Saturday -5:30pm, Sunday – 8:45, 10:30, 12:30, and 5:30pm.

· June 26th – YAM Picnic (details to come)

· June 16 or 23 – Help with bingo at Camp La Honda? (details to come)
